Widely used on projects where the contractor carries out both the design and construction work, the JCT 2016 Design and Build contract, like other forms of contract, requires skillful management of time, cost and quality in order to achieve success. This, in turn, requires an in depth knowledge of the specific nuances of the contract.
Using the management of time, cost and quality as the basis for the course, you will be introduced to the processes, advantages and disadvantages, the various clauses, and dispute resolution methods that relate to projects working with the JCT Design and Build contract. Practical exercises will also give you ample opportunity to demonstrate and test your new found skills and knowledge that can be further applied on the delivery of your own projects.
The day will introduce the design and build procurement comparing it to the traditional model, also exploring who are the parties involved when using this contract form. The trainer will present best practice methods and use practical experience references to cover time, quality, cost and dispute resolution areas. A case study will assign you as the new Employer’s Agent who is responsible for proposing a solution to issues related to extension of time, loss & expense, value of change and other outstanding and unresolved matters.
Delegates are required to bring along their own copy of the JCT 2016 Design and Build Contract.
