Who is it for?

This course is suitable for anyone who would like to develop and improve inspection skills of historic houses that will typically be those built before approximately 1940. It is suitable for Surveyors; Building Surveyors; Local Authority; Building Inspectors; Conservation Officers; Home Inspectors; Architects; Estate Agents; Loss Adjusters; Home Owners. 

Course pre-requisites

An understanding of the principles of building construction and specification, but not necessarily orientated towards historic structures.


The course will be delivered from the perspective of a surveyor undertaking a condition survey on an historic house within the size range up to about 8 bedrooms. It will be delivered as a general format, in much the same way that such a building would be approached on site. It involves interaction with both individual and group exercise to replicate site surveys. It will involve real survey situations as well as case studies.
