Overview

With the Government talking about improving the home & selling process and traditional lender focussed valuation instructions set to fall as AVMs and Desk Top appraisals gather momentum RICS is seeking to consolidate and improve current member practice by establishing new ‘gold’ standard for home surveys to serve the changing needs of the market place.

The new standard will strive to ensure that any home survey by an RICS member or other professional is undertaken to professionally agreed principles, which is important given the renewed government interest in homebuying and selling allied with the onset of PropTech and new IT systems and a need to work with other professions and specialists to satisfy raised consumer expectations on quality and service.

So, if you practise in the residential sector, do not fall at the first fence playing catch-up but come and find out for yourself.

Panel members

An esteemed panel representing all interests and parties has been put together to share their views and most importantly listen to the views in the room as to the future of this thoroughbred sector of the profession. Chaired by Southport-based member and part-time Associate Director at RICS Graham Ellis the event will follow a BBC Question Time format with a panel of leading players representative of the industry including:

  • Sole practitioners and single office firms based in the North East
  • Medium sized local/regional firms with offices across the North East
  • Large national firms with offices in the North East
  • Multi-discipline local, regional and national firms
  • Training and CPD firms
  • Consumer complaints and RICS standards
  • Panel management firm
  • Information technology

This is your chance to ask questions to an informed panel, and therefore, to assist with the running of the event questions must be submitted in writing prior to the event and you will be asked by the Chair to stand-up and present it at the event for the panel to discuss and for the views of the room and yourself. Please send your questions directly to Angela Jepson, Regional Services Coordinator, RICS to ajepson@rics.org by no later than 2nd June 2018.
