Peter Maddison is a multi award-winning architect, who is well-known for hosting international lifestyle series 'Grand Designs Australia', which is now in its ninth year of production. Peter is a senior counsellor committed to developing the industry through guest lectures, seminars and participating in committees.
Peter is currently on the Honours Committee of the RAIA, The Australian Institute of Architects, Contributor to the Heritage Council of Australia, Interior Design Association, various schools of architecture, and was conferred a degree of Doctor in Design at RMIT University Melbourne in 2014.
As the Director of Maddison Architects, a practice he started in 1989, Peter has completed over 300 projects in the hospitality, tourism, residential, educational and commercial sectors, which have received significant commendations and awards in the architecture design field.

The Commercial Agency Team of the Year award acknowledges companies, teams and consortia acquiring, selling, managing or leasing commercial properties during 2017. The previous winner was CBRE, Western Sydney Metropolitan Investments responsible for more than $1.5 billion in transactions in 2016.
Celebrating the success of quantity surveyors, this award recognises companies, teams or consortia engaged in outstanding quantity surveying projects during 2017.
Future-proofing the profession is a key challenge in a time of rapid technological changes. The Technology Innovation Team of the Year award recognises teams, companies and consortia engaged in developing innovative solutions, using technology, to sustain the profession for the future.
The Valuation Team of the Year recognises a company, team or consortia involved in valuation services which uphold international standards and give confidence to end-users for their objectivity, independence and reliability.
Celebrating the success of Tenant Advisors/Representatives, this award recognises companies, teams or consortia engaged in outstanding advisory/ representation services for Occupier transactions during 2017.
The Property Fund of the Year Award recognises a property trust or property syndicate who can illustrate their outstanding industry performance for a specific project through attributes, such as innovation, financial performance
and or public accountability.
This award recognises projects that are new, exciting, cost-efficient and replicable; that are beyond the leading edge of standard facility management practices. The award is designed to foster creative thinking and innovative practices that will lead facility managers into the future.
This award recognises projects that demonstrate how environmental challenges have been overcome, and where research, innovation and design or construction techniques have enabled a significant and outstanding
response to a need for conservation and environmental improvement.
Awarded to a company, team or consortia responsible for outstanding facilities management, the award recognises the provision of services to end-users.
The future of our profession rests on the shoulders of emerging professionals. The Young Achiever of the Year Award acknowledges one outstanding individual who, having embarked upon the journey to professionalism through RICS, has achieved excellence in their chosen field. The individual selected will embody the highest standards of professionalism, be a role-model for their peers and be capable of making an outstanding contribution to the profession in the course of their future career.
Presented to an outstanding individual for excellence in quantity surveying, project management, land surveying or building surveying, the Construction Professional of the Year award recognises achievement in construction projects during 2016. The successful candidate will demonstrate how their work has combined the highest professional, ethical and industry standards to deliver superior results and outcomes for clients and stakeholders.
The Property Professional of the Year award is presented to an outstanding individual involved in valuation, property management, facilities management, or acquiring/selling or leasing a commercial, industrial or retail property. The selected professional will represent the highest professional ethics, demonstrate their use of standards in their day to day activities and embody the excellence expected of the recipient of such a prestigious award.
The inaugural Women of the Built Environment Award recognises and promotes the positive contribution to our industry. RICS encourages female professionals from all disciplines of the industry to enter including: consultants, property services, real estate and property management professionals, both in the private and public sectors.
Recognising eminent commitment to RICS and the wider profession, the Lifetime Achievement Award is the most prestigious award for built environment professionals. It is awarded in rare but compelling circumstances to acknowledge an individual’s outstanding contribution to the development of the built environment profession, together with the individual’s commitment to RICS locally and globally.
The presentation of this award is subject to the determination of the judging panel that the nominee is worthy of this significant honour.
