RICS is playing a front-and-centre role in responding to the Grenfell Tower fire in two key ways. Our professionals are part of an Independent Expert Advisory Panel that recommends policy initiatives to the UK Secretary of State for Housing, and we are driving the creation of landmark industry Fire Safety Standards.
Gary Strong FRICS leads RICS' ongoing efforts to reduce risks associated with combustible cladding and is visiting Australasia to engage senior industry and government stakeholders. He will provide a first-hand account of what is happening on the ground in the UK and discuss the effectiveness of various policy responses.

Gary Strong FRICS, Global Standards Director, RICS
Gary leads the Professional Standards department of Professional Groups and Global Education & Qualification Standards (EQS) teams. He is a chartered building surveyor, arbritrator, chartered loss adjuster and building engineer, with over 34 years’ experience in residential, commercial and industrial property matters.
In his role, Gary oversees the creation of international standards, RICS standards, guidance, and technical information, together with the APC and Associate pathways to membership.
His team comprises chartered surveyors in various specialisms, who work with professional groups and EQS member boards to develop these standards and maintain the highest levels of professionalism for RICS professionals.
