Webinar CPD on the effective use of construction schedules

This CPD event will provide delegates with insight on how to avoid costly disputes, by placing a high degree of reliance on the program in demonstrating causal links between the event, contractual entitlement, cause and effect, damages suffered and the remedy sought when dealing with time-related issues.

Wed 25 Jul 2018
06:30 PM - 08:00 PM
1.5 hours formal CPD

This CPD event will look at the fundamentals of the planning process, and how common pitfalls relating thereto, contributes to the top three of the five most common causes of disputes as listed in Arcadis – Global Construction Disputes Report 2017, which are:

  • Failure to properly administer the contract
  • Poorly drafted or incomplete/unsubstantiated claims
  • Employer/contractor/subcontractor failing to understand and/or comply with it's contractual obligations.

In addition, this CPD event will explore the following delay analysis methods:

  • Impacted as-planned analysis method
  • Time impact analysis method
  • Collapsed as-built analysis method
  • Time slice windows analysis method
  • As-planned vs as-built analysis method
  • Retrospective longest path analysis method

Moreover, the CPD event will explore specific programme requirements and explain the reasons and certain circumstances for selecting a particular method.

Learning outcomes

Attendees will gain awareness of the contractual obligations to produce/maintain a program in administering the contract, and an understanding of:

  • The importance of complying with the planning and notification obligations of the contract.
  • The importance of the program as a tool used to support your obligations in providing further and better particulars to substantiate claims.
  • The benefits of using your program as a reliable central repository for all documents, including quantum interfaces, in support/defence of claims.
  • The key differences between the requirements related to ‘planning for project controls’ and ‘planning for delay analysis’ purposes.
