This session will take a detailed look at the recent introduction by FIDIC of Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Boards, and review other methods of dispute avoidance and resolution that are more commonly adopted on Qatar based projects.

The recent release of FIDIC’s 2017 Rainbow Suite of Construction Contracts introduces Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Boards into mainstream construction contracts.

In this seminar we will look at the dispute resolution provisions recommended by FIDIC in their most recent suite of contracts, and compare them with other methods of dispute avoidance and alternative dispute resolution procedures available to parties of Construction Contracts, taking a critical look at the benefits and short comings of the various methods available.

Attendees will gain:

  • A detailed understanding of the new dispute resolution clause of FIDIC’s 2017 Rainbow Suite of Contracts.
  • An understanding of various methods of dispute avoidance that have been adopted in some major projects around the world.
  • An understanding of various alternative dispute resolution methods that are more commonly used within the region.
  • An analysis and understanding of the various strengths and weaknesses of the dispute avoidance and ADR methods discussed.

Meet the speaker

Glenn Bull graduated with Honours at Victoria University Law School in 2006. He then commenced his career in Melbourne Australia, specializing in real estate and construction law. Glenn has worked in both private practice and as in-house legal counsel.

In October 2014, Glenn moved to Qatar to join the Doha office of Charles Russell Speechlys, an international law firm with offices in London, Paris, Qatar, Bahrain, Dubai, Hong Kong, Switzerland and Luxemburg. Since joining CRS, Glenn has advised on various matters within Qatar and the GCC more widely. Glenn is currently working on a full time basis with Manateq, seconded as a member of their in-house legal team and advising on their various major projects currently underway.
