The subject matter is wide-ranging and covers contract terms relevant to extensions of time, concurrent delay, the latest Society of Construction Law delay and disruption protocol, and retrospective v prospective analyses.

The seminar commences by providing an overview of the 2nd SCL delay and disruption protocol issued in 2017 and the updated advice provided therein, putting it in context against the earlier SCL protocol of 2002.
The seminar thereafter provides commentary on case law where hotly debated issues were dealt with, and addresses current topics including: doing away with standard practice through incorporation of specific contract terms, whether to adopt a retrospective or prospective delay analysis approach, and the competing views on concurrent delay.

Yasir G. Kadhim is an Associate Director at HKA in Abu Dhabi. He has extensive experience in forensic delay and disruption analysis and regularly provides advice to owners, contractors, and legal counsel. He comes from a background in civil engineering and contracting, holds Master’s degrees in engineering and construction law, is an accredited mediator and a member of numerous professional institutes. During his carrier, Yasir has been engaged in a diverse range of high-profile projects including landmark tourism developments, nuclear and fossil fuel power generation projects, major infrastructure works, industrial plants and oil and gas projects.
