This CPD will cover the construction industry challenges, lean construction and the way forward through utilising BIM. The CPD will cover as well as review of BIM standards in various countries around the world.

The adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM) has been on an upward trend in the AEC industry around the world. The effective use of this technology to facilitate building information coordination has the potential to provide solutions to industry demands in aspects such as increasing complexity, the need for time and cost efficiencies and demand for more innovative and sustainable designs. This paper sought to investigate the nature of BIM standards across the world and examine the presence of standards that clarify the BIM roles of project stakeholders such as project management consultant (PMC) at the various stages of the construction project lifecycle.

Meet the speaker

Marwan Abu Ebeid is a Sr. BIM Manager and Head of BIM division for Turner International Middle East (TiME) in UAE. In that role, he provides operational support for BIM practice for Turner staff throughout the UAE projects and Middle East. Regionally, TiME offers program management, project management and construction management services. TiME is currently providing these services for a variety of Clients in UAE, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Turkey and Egypt.

Marwan has over 16 years of progressive experience in Construction Management and BIM. He Holds Bsc. In Civil Engineering, Msc. In Construction Project Management from UK and a he is a PhD candidate in Building Information Modeling and Project Management.
