Anyone with a strong character, good common sense and a clear sense of impartiality can be a mediator. Mediation is, however, most likely to succeed when the mediator is properly trained and qualified.
The face-to-face component of the training programme is five full days and is delivered in two sections:
Module 1 consists of a three-day introduction to Mediation and Dispute Resolution Management.
Module 2 for those seeking accreditation as an ACRE Accredited Mediator.
This intensive two-day programme builds on the introductory course to develop real world professional skills as a mediator.
The programme also includes extensive pre-reading, after hours study during the course, and a practical written assessment.
