The first of its kind, WEEE·PARK is an internationally accredited, state-of-the-art, waste-treatment facility with a capacity of around 30,000 tones a year. It collects, sorts, detoxes, dismantles and recycles WEEE occupying a site area of 30,150m2 and has been in operation since March 2018.
It was designed and built by ALBA IWS, who provide a collection service and will operate the facility until 2027, sustainably converting refrigerators, TVs, computers, washing machines and air conditioners into valuable secondary raw materials, while controlling the management of the hazardous materials.
In operation since 2007, EcoPark is Hong Kong's first recycling-business park with a site area of 200,000m2 in Tuen Mun. It is under the control of the Environmental Protection Department, which encourages the implementation of advanced technologies and recycling processes.
It endeavors to promote the returning of recyclable materials to the production line and has a remit to enhance Hong Kong's environmental and recycling industry.
Tickets include a round-trip via coach. This will pick-up from Tsim Sha Tsui at 13:45 (Middle Road, behind Peninsula Hotel, MTR Exit L4) and travel directly to Tuen Mun.
Collection from Tuen Mun back to Tsim Sha Tsui will be at 17:15.
